Setup, Compatibility & Care
When you receive your palm, ensure it is acclimated to your garden's light conditions gradually. For potting, use a free-draining compost mix, perhaps with added grit, to ensure the roots do not sit in waterlogged soil. While the plant is drought-tolerant once mature, young plants in pots require regular watering during hot summer spells. Protect the crown from excessive winter moisture if you live in an area with very high rainfall. Pruning is minimal; simply remove dead or brown fronds at the base of the stalk using sharp, clean secateurs, taking care to wear gloves due to the spiny edges of the leaf stems.
