The Amtech 102mm hole saw is an ideal tool for professional contractors and DIY enthusiasts who require precise, large-diameter openings in wood, plastic, metal sheets, and composite materials. Its primary strength lies in its M35 High-Speed Steel construction, which ensures durability and heat resistance during prolonged use; however, users should note that an arbor is sold separately, so you must verify you have the compatible 7/16-inch hex arbor before starting your project.

No, the M1513 hole saw is sold as a standalone unit. We recommend the Amtech M1517 32-152mm hex arbor for optimal compatibility.
While the M35 steel is high quality, it is primarily intended for general metal sheets, plastic, and wood. Use at low speeds with plenty of lubricant for harder alloys.
The effective cutting depth of this tool is 39mm.
You need a drill with a chuck capacity that accommodates the 7/16-inch hex arbor shank. A corded drill or a high-torque cordless drill is recommended for a 102mm diameter cut.
Keep the drill moving at a consistent speed and do not let the saw sit in one spot without cutting, as friction heat causes the wood to darken.
Ensure the pilot drill is sharp and extends beyond the hole saw teeth. Start drilling at a slow speed to create a groove before increasing pressure.
Reverse the drill at a slow speed and pull straight out. If stuck in wood, use a screwdriver in the gullets to gently pry the plug out of the saw barrel.
Apply cutting fluid or oil frequently during the cut and reduce the drill's RPM to prevent overheating and premature dulling.
To set up this hole saw, thread it securely onto the Amtech M1517 32-152mm hex arbor until it seats firmly against the backplate. Ensure the pilot drill bit is properly tightened within the arbor assembly before mounting the unit into your drill's 7/16-inch chuck. When drilling, always ensure the workpiece is clamped securely to prevent binding. After use, clean the saw by removing wood chips or metal shavings from the gullets using a wire brush. A light coating of machine oil can be applied to the teeth before storage to protect the steel from oxidation.
