Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Ensure your surface is clean and dry. Remove any loose or flaking old paint or lacquer. Stir the paint thoroughly before use. For optimal results, Annie Sloan recommends testing on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Compatibility: Chalk Paint adheres well to most surfaces including wood (bare, painted, varnished, or lacquered), metal, plastic, glass, terracotta, stone, brick, plaster, and fabric. It is not recommended for floors unless using Chalk Paint Lacquer for durability.
Care: After painting, allow the paint to cure fully (typically several days to a week) before heavy use. The finish should be protected with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Wax or Lacquer. Apply wax using a lint-free cloth or a wax brush, working it into the paint and wiping away any excess. Allow wax to dry and buff gently. Apply lacquer according to its specific instructions. Clean painted items with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
