The Charles Taylor Wood Preservative Oil Treatment in Taylor Brown is an essential maintenance solution for homeowners looking to protect and rejuvenate their outdoor wooden furniture. This oil-based preservative extends the lifespan of timber by providing a protective barrier against harsh weather conditions while restoring its rich color. While the product is highly effective, users should be aware that because wood is a natural material that reacts to temperature and humidity, it requires consistent re-application every 6 to 12 months to maintain its integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Yes, this is a universal wood preservative, though it is specifically color-matched for Taylor Brown finishes.
For best results, we recommend applying a fresh coat every 6-12 months depending on weather exposure.
Light sanding can help if the wood is particularly weathered or rough, but it is not strictly necessary for simple maintenance.
While the treatment is designed for outdoor use, you should keep pets away from the furniture until the oil has fully dried and absorbed into the wood.
A standard synthetic paintbrush is best for detailing, and a large sponge or soft brush works well for larger, flat surface areas.
It helps protect against moisture absorption, which minimizes movement, but wood is a natural product that will still react to temperature and humidity changes.
Ensure the wood surface is clean and free of old, flaking paint or previous heavy varnish that might block absorption.
Apply a second, thin coat once the first is dry to even out the absorption and appearance.
Ensure you are applying it in moderate temperatures; extreme cold can make the oil thicker and harder to work with.
To begin, ensure the furniture is free of dirt, dust, and moss. Use a soft-bristled brush or damp cloth to clean the surface, and wait for it to dry completely. Apply the treatment evenly in the direction of the wood grain. To maintain the health of your furniture, inspect the wood annually. If you notice signs of water absorption or color fading, it is time for a new coat. Always store the tin in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly secured to prevent the oil from thickening or skinning over.
