Product Information

Full details

The MHG Textiles Loft Insulation Roll is an ideal solution for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts looking to improve thermal efficiency in lofts, walls, and sheds without the irritation associated with traditional fiberglass products. Its polyester fiber construction provides effective heat retention and moisture resistance, ensuring a more comfortable indoor environment throughout the seasons. While the material is easy to handle, users should be aware that it arrives compressed and requires manual fluffing to reach its full insulating thickness before installation.

FAQs

Do I need protective gear to install this?

No, this product is made from non-irritant polyester, meaning no masks or gloves are required.

Can this be used in a garage or shed?

Yes, its moisture-resistant properties make it ideal for outbuildings that may be prone to dampness.

Does this roll sag over time?

No, it is specifically designed to retain its structural integrity and shape throughout its lifespan.

Is this product fireproof?

The product is designed for insulation and thermal efficiency; please check local building regulations regarding fire safety ratings for your specific installation area.

What is the best way to cut the insulation?

Standard sharp household or utility scissors are sufficient to cut through the polyester material.

Troubleshooting

Insulation appears thinner than 50mm after unpacking

This is expected due to shipping compression. Ensure you manually fluff and gently pull the fibers apart to allow air to return to the material.

The roll is difficult to fit between joists

Use a sharp pair of heavy-duty scissors to trim the width, as the polyester material cuts cleanly without shedding dust.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Safe and comfortable to touch with bare hands
Moisture-resistant fibers inhibit mold growth
Lightweight and highly flexible for tight spaces
Excellent long-term structural integrity without sagging

Cons

Requires manual fluffing after unpacking
Length is limited to 5m, requiring multiple rolls for large areas
Initial compression means it does not look like full insulation until prepared

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Installation is straightforward due to the user-friendly nature of the polyester material. Simply measure the area to be covered and cut the material to size using standard utility scissors.

Setup Steps:

Measure the length and width of the cavity.
Open the compressed packaging in a clear workspace.
Fluff and pull the fibers apart by hand to achieve full thickness.
Lay or press the insulation into the target area.

Care:

Because the material is hydrophobic, it requires minimal maintenance. Avoid heavy compression once installed to maintain maximum thermal performance. If the insulation becomes saturated due to an unrelated leak, it should be removed and allowed to dry or replaced to prevent trapped debris from accumulating.
