Product Information

Full details

The Roughneck Neoform Plastering Trowel (14-inch) is designed for professional plasterers and serious DIY enthusiasts who require a high-performance tool for achieving smooth, flawless wall finishes. Its primary benefit is the pre-worn, concave blade design that eliminates the need for a breaking-in period, allowing for an immediate, high-quality application with reduced ripple marks; however, users should be aware that the aggressive, pre-sharpened edge requires careful handling to avoid accidental surface scoring during initial use.

Extended Product Information

FAQs

Does this trowel need to be broken in before use?

No. The Roughneck Neoform features a pre-worn, concave blade designed to be used straight out of the box.

Is the stainless steel rust-proof?

The 301 stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion, though it should be cleaned and dried after each use to maintain its professional finish.

How long is the blade on this model?

This specific model features a 14-inch blade.

Can this trowel be used for corner work?

While the 14-inch size is excellent for large flat areas, you may prefer a smaller or specialized corner trowel for intricate internal corners.

What is the weight of the trowel?

The tool uses a lightweight aluminium mount, making it easy to maneuver for extended periods despite its professional-grade steel blade.

Troubleshooting

Blade leaving marks or 'chatter' on the wall

Reduce the angle of the trowel blade against the surface. A flatter approach utilizes the concave edge more effectively.

Handle feeling slippery during use

Ensure the soft-grip handle is wiped dry and free from excess plaster or moisture build-up.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ready to use immediately without breaking in
Highly durable 301 stainless steel construction
Excellent balance and low-weight design
Professional-grade stability from riveted mounting
Ergonomic handle minimizes wrist strain

Cons

Pre-worn edges are sharp and require caution
14-inch size may be too large for tight corner work
Stainless steel requires consistent cleaning to prevent surface dulling

Setup, Compatibility & Care

This trowel does not require a complex setup process; it is designed to be used effectively the moment it is removed from the packaging. To ensure the longevity of your Roughneck trowel:

Cleaning: Always wash the blade with clean water immediately after use. Do not allow plaster to harden on the surface, as mechanical removal can scratch the polished steel.
Maintenance: Store the trowel in a dry location to prevent environmental moisture from affecting the handle grip or potential corrosion of the metal components.
Inspection: Periodically check the rivets for any signs of loosening, though the fully riveted design is intended for high-intensity, long-term use.
