Set your tempo with the Rate slider or Tap Tempo footswitch, or sync to a drum machine or DAW via MIDI clock. Six Tap Tempo Divide modes provide rhythmic diversity. This pedal is a tweaker's delight! You can add the optional 8 Step Program Foot Controller to expand to 100 presets. The EHX 8 Step Program transmits a Control Voltage (CV) signal to another device that accepts CV or expression pedal input. Subsequently, the signal rhythmically controls the parameters that respond to expression pedals or CV generators, such as filters, delays, oscillators or guitar pedals. Programming pleasure with the 8 Step Program sequencer with eight steps, each with its own corresponding step slider. The tempo can be determined with the rate slider, but you can also use the tap foot switch to tap the tempo, or have an external drum machine determine the tempo via the MIDI input. A range of settings are also at your disposal, as are ten presets, which can be expanded up to a total of 100 with the optional Foot Controller. Four sequence direction modes: Forward, Reverse, Bounce, Random. Rotary encoder gives glide rate, direction, length, and depth. Save, store, and recall 10 presets.
The Electro-Harmonix 8 Step Program is designed for musicians seeking precise control over expression-based parameters in their audio setups. It allows for creating dynamic sequences for expression pedals or CV-controllable devices, offering rhythmic variety and creative potential. A potential limitation is the need for devices compatible with CV or expression pedal inputs. Key features include a sequencer with eight steps, tap tempo functionality, and MIDI clock synchronization.

FAQs
How do I set the tempo?
Use the Rate slider, tap tempo footswitch, or MIDI clock input.
Can I store my own presets?
Yes, you can save, store, and recall up to 10 presets or expand up to 100 with the optional Foot Controller.
What is the purpose of the CV output?
The CV (Control Voltage) output sends a signal to other devices that accept CV inputs, allowing the 8 Step Program to control parameters such as filter cutoff, delay time, or oscillator pitch.
Can I use this with a standard expression pedal?
Yes, you can use a standard expression pedal, and the 8 Step Program sends a CV signal to another device.
How do I use the tap tempo feature?
Simply tap the Tap Tempo footswitch in time with the desired tempo. You can also use the Tap Tempo Divide modes for rhythmic variations.
What kind of devices are compatible?
The 8 Step Program is compatible with any device that accepts CV (Control Voltage) or expression pedal input.
Troubleshooting
No output signal.
Check all connections and ensure the expression pedal or CV input is correctly connected and configured.
Tempo not syncing.
Verify MIDI clock settings if using MIDI sync, and ensure that the connected devices are set to receive MIDI clock.
Presets not saving.
Make sure you are following the correct save procedure outlined in the user manual.
