The Faithfull Half-Round Second Cut File is an essential hand tool designed for professional engineers, metalworkers, and dedicated DIY enthusiasts who require precise material removal on varied surfaces. Combining the utility of a flat file with the curvature of a round file, it excels at smoothing down rough edges and shaping contours, though its second-cut coarseness means it is intended for medium-duty material removal rather than fine finishing.

Second cut refers to the coarseness of the teeth; it is a medium grade that balances the speed of material removal with the quality of the finish.
While it can cut wood, it is primarily engineered for metalwork. Wood fibers may clog the teeth quickly, requiring more frequent cleaning.
Yes, the handle can be removed and replaced if necessary, though it comes securely fitted for standard usage.
Keep the tool in a dry environment and apply a light coat of machine oil if storing it for long periods in a humid workshop.
This model is 250mm long, which provides a good balance between reach and leverage for most workshop tasks.
Clean the file teeth with a wire brush to remove trapped metal debris (pinning) and ensure you are only applying pressure during the forward stroke.
Check if the tang is securely seated; if the handle remains loose, tap the base of the handle firmly against a workbench to drive the tang deeper into the handle.
The Faithfull Half-Round File comes ready to use out of the box with an ergonomic handle already attached. No complex setup is required. To ensure longevity, keep the file dry to prevent oxidation and store it in a tool roll or a designated rack where the teeth are protected from contact with other hardened steel tools. Avoid using the file on extremely hard, tempered steels that exceed the hardness of the file material, as this will destroy the teeth. Clean the file after each session using a stiff wire brush.
