While it will drill through wood or plastic, it is specifically optimized for steel and stainless steel; you may find general-purpose bits more economical for softer materials.
Yes, as long as your cordless drill features a standard three-jaw chuck.
The HSS-Co construction holds an edge for a long time, but eventually, it may require professional sharpening if it becomes dull.
It is designed for standard stainless and construction steel. For ultra-hardened tool steels, you may require specialized tungsten carbide bits.
Cobalt bits have a much higher heat tolerance and hardness, making them significantly better at cutting through tough stainless steel without burning up.
Ensure the three-jaw chuck is tightened securely and verify that the shank is free of oil or debris.
Reduce drill speed, increase downward pressure, and use metal-cutting lubricant to manage heat.
Check if the material is properly clamped and use a center punch to start the hole so the bit stays centered.
To set up, simply insert the cylindrical shank into your drill's three-jaw chuck and tighten evenly. Ensure the drill is set to a medium or low speed; excessive RPM can overheat the bit, leading to premature dulling. Compatibility is universal with any standard drill equipped with a three-jaw chuck. For care, always clean metal shavings off the bit after use and store it in a dry, organized drill bit case to prevent edge damage. Avoid dropping the bit on hard surfaces, as the specialized cobalt steel can be prone to chipping under sudden impact.
