Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting:
- Choose a sunny location with well-drained, fertile soil.
- Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the 4-litre pot.
- Gently remove the rose from its pot, taking care not to disturb the root ball.
- Place the plant in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface.
- Backfill the hole with soil, firming gently around the base.
- Water thoroughly after planting.
Watering:
Water regularly, especially during the first growing season, to help the plant establish. Once established, water during dry spells, particularly in summer.
Pruning:
Prune lightly in late winter (February/March) to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches and to encourage strong new growth. Aim to maintain an open, healthy shape.
Companionship:
Pairs well with plants like lavender, salvia, hardy geraniums, and ornamental grasses, which complement its warm tones and add textural contrast.
Seasonal Note:
Roses naturally shed leaves from October onwards as they prepare for winter. This is normal and does not indicate a problem. The plant will regrow leaves and buds in spring.
