Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the engine is cool.
- Remove the old spark plug using the appropriate socket wrench (20.8 mm spanner size).
- Check that the NGK BP-4 spark plug is the correct replacement for your vehicle's specifications.
- Hand-thread the new spark plug into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading.
- Tighten the spark plug with a torque wrench to the manufacturer's recommended specification.
- Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Compatibility:
This spark plug is cross-referenced with many OEM part numbers and aftermarket brands. Always consult your vehicle's service manual or a professional to confirm compatibility before installation. Key specifications to match include thread size (M14 x 1.25), thread reach (9.5 mm), and terminal type.
Care:
Spark plugs are wear items and are not typically user-serviceable beyond inspection. Check spark plugs during routine maintenance. If a spark plug appears fouled, damaged, or worn, it should be replaced.
