Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation of the KL778 should always be performed when the engine is cool to prevent the risk of fuel ignition. Prior to starting, ensure you have the necessary safety equipment, including eye protection and a catch pan for residual fuel in the lines.
- Locate the existing fuel filter, typically positioned along the chassis fuel line or near the fuel tank.
- Relieve fuel system pressure according to your vehicle's service manual.
- Carefully disconnect the fuel lines from the old filter, noting the flow direction.
- Remove the old unit and replace it with the KL778, ensuring the flow arrow matches the direction of fuel movement.
- Reattach lines and secure any clamps, then cycle the ignition to prime the pump and check for leaks.
Regular care involves checking the filter at recommended service intervals and replacing it immediately if it shows signs of damage or extreme age.
