Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Sowing: Sow seeds directly into well-drained soil from late September through to November. For 'Aquadulce Claudia' broad beans, aim for October/November. For 'Douce Provence' peas, late September to early November is recommended. Ensure adequate spacing according to packet instructions. Protect young seedlings from slugs and snails, especially during the autumn and early spring.
Compatibility: These seeds are compatible with most garden soils. For best results, ensure the soil is fertile and well-drained. Companion planting principles can be applied, but no specific compatibility issues are noted.
Care: Water regularly, especially during dry spells, though established overwintering plants will require less frequent watering. Support pea plants with netting or canes as they grow. Broad beans may also benefit from staking if grown in exposed areas. Monitor for common pests such as blackfly on beans and aphids on peas. An RHS AGM variety indicates good garden performance and resilience.
