Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility: Before purchasing, always verify that the NGK BP4HS (3611) is the correct spark plug for your specific vehicle's make, model, and year. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a reputable parts catalog.
Setup:
- Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
- Disconnect the spark plug wire from the old spark plug.
- Use a spark plug socket wrench to carefully remove the old spark plug.
- Inspect the new NGK BP4HS spark plug. While pre-set to `0.028` inches, it is recommended to double-check the gap using a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary according to your vehicle's specifications.
- Screw the new spark plug in by hand to avoid cross-threading.
- Tighten the spark plug with the socket wrench to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
- Reconnect the spark plug wire securely.
Care: Spark plugs are typically a replacement part and do not require regular maintenance. However, during routine engine checks, visually inspect the spark plug's condition for signs of wear, fouling, or damage. If issues arise, replacement is usually the most effective solution.
