FloPlast Underground Drainage Bend - 110mm - 15 Degree
This terracotta PVC socket bend from FloPlast is ideal for carrying waste safely and cleanly away ...This terracotta PVC socket bend from FloPlast is ideal for carrying waste safely and cleanly away from your home. FloPlast Underground Double Socket 15 Bend - 110mm. Introducing the FloPlast Double Socket 15 Bend, a part of our FloPlast fittings range. Our FloPlast underground drainage bends are available with either a single or a double socket. The sockets are a simple push fit design with a captive rubber seal that is housed inside a moulded recess. Drainage bends have a variety of uses depending upon their angle. 87.5 degree bends are most commonly used vertically at the foot of a soil pipe or a rainwater pipe, whilst 45 degree bends are often used at the entry and exit points of an inspection chamber. 30 and 15 degree bends are generally used in the horizontal plane when a slight change of direction is required. We always recommend the use of silicon lubricant with all push fit drainage fittings as it makes installation easier and maintains and enhances the performance of the seal in the long run.

FAQs
What is the primary use for a 15-degree bend in drainage?
A 15-degree bend is used in underground drainage systems to make a slight change of direction, typically in the horizontal plane, without creating a sharp angle that could impede flow or increase blockage risk.
Do I need special tools to install this bend?
No special tools are required for standard installation. A shovel for trenching and silicone lubricant for easier assembly are recommended.
What does 'double socket' mean?
A double socket fitting has two openings, allowing you to connect pipes from two different directions into a single point or run.
Is this bend suitable for surface drainage or rainwater pipes?
While made of durable PVC, this specific bend is designed for underground waste and drainage systems. For rainwater pipes, ensure compatibility with the specific system requirements.
How important is using silicone lubricant?
Silicone lubricant is highly recommended as it makes the push-fit installation much easier, prevents damage to the rubber seal, and ensures a consistently watertight seal over time.
Can I use this bend with pipes of different diameters?
No, this fitting is specifically designed for 110mm diameter pipes and fittings. Using it with other sizes will result in an insecure and leaky connection.
Troubleshooting
Difficulty pushing pipe into socket
Ensure both the pipe end and the socket are clean and lubricated with silicone lubricant. Check for any obstructions within the socket or damage to the pipe end.
Potential leak at the joint
Verify the pipe is fully seated within the socket. Ensure the rubber seal is correctly positioned and undamaged. Re-lubricate and re-seat the connection if necessary.
Pipe not fully inserted
Apply more silicone lubricant. Ensure there are no obstructions or damage preventing full insertion. Gentle, steady pressure is key.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Facilitates clean and safe waste water removal.
Simple and quick installation due to push-fit design.
Secure, watertight connections with captive rubber seals.
Durable and long-lasting PVC material.
Versatile for minor horizontal directional changes.
Cons
Requires silicone lubricant for best installation results.
Primarily for underground use; not suitable for exposed systems.
15-degree angle limits its use to specific directional needs.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Ensure the pipe ends and the socket interiors are clean and free of debris.
Apply a generous amount of silicone lubricant to the spigot end of the pipe and the inside of the socket.
Firmly push the pipe into the socket until it is fully seated. The captive rubber seal will engage, creating a watertight joint.
Compatibility:
This fitting is designed to connect with other 110mm diameter underground drainage pipes and fittings.
Ensure all connecting pipes are also suitable for underground use.
Care:
Underground drainage systems require minimal user care. Periodically check for any signs of surface disturbance or blockage in accessible areas.
The PVC material is resistant to most common chemicals found in wastewater.
