FAQs
How does the BabyDan Sliding Door Lock work?
The lock attaches to the door and frame with adhesive. When the door closes, a small latch on the lock automatically engages with a corresponding part on the frame, preventing the door from sliding open.
Is this lock suitable for all types of sliding doors?
It is designed for standard sliding doors and wardrobes. Its effectiveness depends on the specific gap and mechanism of the door. It is recommended to check compatibility with your specific door type before installation.
What materials is the lock made from?
The BabyDan Sliding Door Lock is made from PVC-free plastic, which is also free from phthalates and BPA, ensuring it is safe for use around children.
How do I install the lock?
Installation is simple: clean the desired surface on the door and frame, peel the backing off the adhesive tape, position the lock, and press firmly for at least 30 seconds.
Can I remove the lock if I no longer need it?
Yes, the lock is designed to be easily removable. Gently pull it away from the surface. A mild adhesive remover can be used for any residue, but test in an inconspicuous area first.
What is special about the packaging?
The packaging is 100% biodegradable and Cradle to Cradle certified, meaning it will decompose naturally and has a minimal negative impact on the environment.
Does the lock require batteries or power?
No, the BabyDan Sliding Door Lock is a mechanical device that does not require batteries or any external power source. It operates purely through its design and the action of closing the door.
Troubleshooting
Lock does not engage when the door closes.
Ensure the door is fully closed. Check that the lock is properly aligned with the frame and door. Verify there is sufficient contact for the latch to catch. Clean the contact surfaces.
Adhesive is not holding securely.
Make sure the surface was thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. Press firmly for the recommended time. Avoid using the lock until the adhesive has fully set (refer to adhesive manufacturer's guidelines if available).
Difficulty removing the lock without damaging the surface.
Gently try to pry the lock away using a thin plastic tool or your fingernail. If resistance is met, a mild adhesive remover may help, but test on an inconspicuous area first.
Lock seems flimsy or easily bypassed.
Ensure the lock is correctly installed and aligned. Check that it is the appropriate type of sliding door for this lock; some very large or heavy doors may require different security solutions.
