Troubleshooting
Surface shows faint marks after knife use
These are often metal transfer marks from cutlery. Use a non-abrasive cream cleanser specifically formulated for stoneware to gently buff them out.
Water spots after air drying
Immediately towel dry the plate with a soft lint-free cloth after washing to prevent mineral deposits from setting on the matte surface.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Durable and substantial weight for daily use
- Modern, high-end look with the matte two-tone finish
- Versatile size suitable for a wide range of meal types
- Easy to clean due to the smooth stoneware surface
Cons
- Requires manual washing to ensure the finish longevity
- Heavier than traditional ceramic or porcelain plates
- Surface may be susceptible to scratches from sharp metal utensils
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your stoneware lasts for years, follow these care instructions:
- Initial Cleaning: Before the first use, wash the plate thoroughly in warm, soapy water to remove any manufacturing dust.
- Daily Maintenance: Hand wash with a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid using steel wool or highly abrasive scrubbers, which can dull or scratch the matte two-tone finish.
- Storage: Stack carefully to prevent rim chipping. Because of the uneven rim design, ensure plates are aligned properly when stacking.
- Compatibility: While designed as a stand-alone plate, it is styled to be compatible with other pieces in the Hygge collection. If you plan to mix and match with existing dinnerware, the matte black finish serves as an excellent neutral base that pairs well with wooden or light-colored ceramic accents.
