This delightful replica of the Mallard locomotive will power along a wooden rail track with ease, either as a solo engine or with carriages attached to its magnetic coupling. Requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included). Magnetic couplings ensure compatibility with all other engines and carriages in the Bigjigs Rail range. Most other major wooden railway brands are compatible with Bigjigs Rail. Conforms to current European safety standards. The Mallard, built in 1938, is part of the class of A4 locomotives designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. Its unique wedge-shaped Art Deco design reduced journey times and it set a world speed record of 126mph in 1938, a record which still stands today. This battery operated train requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included) and can pull a maximum of three carriages.
