FAQs

What tools do I need to install a Flexseal Drain Coupling?

You will need a nut driver and a torque wrench.

What is the maximum pressure rating for these couplings?

Pressure ratings will vary based on the specific product and application. Always refer to the manufacturer's specifications for the correct pressure rating.

Can I use these couplings on pressurized pipes?

These couplings are primarily designed for non-pressure drainage applications. Using them on pressurized pipes is not recommended.

How do I determine the correct size of the coupling?

Measure the outside diameter of the pipes you are connecting and select a coupling that matches the diameter range.

What materials are the couplings made of?

The coupling body is made of EPDM rubber and the clamps are made of stainless steel.

How long will a Flexseal Drain Coupling last?

With proper installation and care, these couplings are designed to provide a long-lasting, durable seal. The lifespan depends on environmental conditions and usage.

Where can I use Flexseal Drain Couplings?

These couplings can be used in housing sites, private roads, industrial sites, agricultural land, and for repairing existing pipe systems.

Troubleshooting

Leakage at the connection

Check the clamp tightness with a torque wrench. Ensure the coupling is properly centered and the pipes are clean.

Coupling is difficult to install

Make sure the pipe diameters are within the coupling's specified range and that the pipe ends are smooth and free of burrs. Use lubricant if necessary.

Clamp corrosion

If corrosion is present, replace the coupling with a new one to ensure a secure seal.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Easy to install and requires minimal tools.
  • Provides a strong, airtight, and watertight seal.
  • Compatible with a wide range of pipe materials.
  • Durable materials ensure long-lasting performance.
  • Suitable for various applications, including repairs and new installations.
  • Cost-effective solution for drainage pipe connections.

Cons

  • Requires accurate measurement of pipe diameters for proper fit.
  • Not suitable for connecting pipes with significantly different outer diameters.
  • The coupling size must match the pipe size for effective sealing.
  • May require some experience with plumbing for optimal results.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup

  1. Preparation: Ensure the pipes are cut squarely and clean of any debris.
  2. Placement: Slide the coupling over the ends of the pipes to be joined, ensuring equal coverage on each pipe.
  3. Tightening: Use a nut driver and torque wrench to tighten the stainless steel clamps to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.

Compatibility

Flexseal Drain Couplings are compatible with pipes that have similar outer diameters. They can be used with various materials, including:

  • PVC
  • Clay
  • Concrete
  • Cast Iron

Care

  • Regularly inspect the couplings for any signs of damage or deterioration.
  • Ensure that the clamps remain properly tightened.
  • If any issues are noticed, replace the coupling immediately.
