Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before installation, you must verify that the BKR7E (6097) is compatible with your vehicle's cylinder head and ignition requirements. Using an incorrect heat range or reach can cause severe engine damage.
- Preparation: Ensure the engine is cool before removing old plugs. Clean the area around the plug well to prevent debris from falling into the combustion chamber.
- Installation: Hand-thread the spark plug into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading. Use a calibrated torque wrench to tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque setting.
- Gap Verification: Always check the spark plug gap using a feeler gauge to ensure it meets your specific vehicle's manufacturer requirements before installation.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect the electrode for signs of fouling or excessive wear. As a standard nickel plug, these should be replaced more frequently than iridium variants to maintain engine health.
