FAQs
What is the main advantage of the Sports-Auto Focus System?
The Sports-Auto Focus System allows you to set the focus once and maintain clarity for a wide range of distances (22 yards to infinity), which is ideal for tracking moving subjects without constant re-adjustment.
Are these binoculars suitable for use with eyeglasses?
Yes, the fold-down rubber eyecups are designed to provide comfort and proper viewing for users who wear eyeglasses.
How do I clean the lenses?
Use a soft, lint-free lens cloth specifically designed for optics. For tougher smudges, you can use a lens cleaning solution approved for multi-coated lenses.
Are these binoculars truly waterproof?
Yes, they feature an O-ring sealed design that makes them waterproof and weather-ready, capable of withstanding rain, snow, and spraying water.
What is the field of view?
The binoculars offer a wide field of view of 362 feet at 1000 yards, which aids in tracking moving objects and scanning landscapes.
How much do these binoculars weigh?
They are lightweight, weighing approximately 17 ounces, making them comfortable for extended use and portable for mobile applications.
Can I adjust the focus for very close objects (e.g., insects)?
The Sports-Auto Focus system is optimized for distances from 22 yards to infinity. For very close objects, you may find the depth of field with the Porro prism design helps, but precise focus on extremely close subjects might be limited.
Troubleshooting
Blurry image despite focus adjustment
Ensure the eyecups are correctly adjusted for your eyes and that you are looking through the center of the lenses. Clean the lenses with a proper lens cloth.
Condensation inside the lenses
This may indicate a seal has been compromised. Allow the binoculars to slowly acclimatize to room temperature. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
Binoculars feel loose or wobbly
Check if the floating prism system may have been impacted. If parts seem misaligned or loose, contact Steiner customer support.
Difficult to hold steady
The 8x magnification can amplify hand shake. Try resting your elbows on a stable surface or using a tripod adapter if available for longer observation periods.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The Steiner Military Marine binoculars feature a Sports-Auto Focus System. To set them up, look through the binoculars at an object about 20 yards away. Adjust the central focus wheel until the image is sharp. Once set, the binoculars will remain in focus for objects from approximately 22 yards to infinity. For closer objects, you may need to make minor adjustments. The eyecups can be folded down if you wear glasses.
Compatibility: These binoculars are designed for general observation and are compatible with most users, including eyeglass wearers due to their fold-down eyecups.
Care: Clean the lenses regularly with a soft, lint-free lens cloth. For the exterior, use a damp cloth to wipe away dirt or grime, avoiding harsh chemicals. Ensure the lens caps are on when not in use to protect the optics. Store in a dry place.
