Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Shire Shed requires attention to detail for optimal performance and longevity. Begin by preparing a perfectly level and firm base; suitable options include a concrete slab, paving slabs, or a purpose-built wooden shed base. All necessary fixings, mineral roof felt, and comprehensive assembly instructions are provided. We recommend having two people for assembly to safely handle panels and ensure accurate construction. Follow the step-by-step guide carefully, ensuring all panels are square and securely fastened.
Compatibility
This shed is designed for general outdoor storage in residential garden or yard environments. Its 8 x 6ft footprint is a common size, fitting well into most garden layouts. Ensure your chosen location has adequate space around the shed for future maintenance and door operation.
Care
Upon assembly, it is crucial to immediately apply a high-quality exterior wood preservative or paint to all external timber surfaces. Although the shed comes dip-treated with a base coat, this is only for initial protection and requires a top coat for full weatherproofing against rot, decay, and fungal attack. Reapply this treatment periodically as per the manufacturer's recommendations. Regularly inspect the mineral roof felt for any tears or damage and repair promptly to prevent water ingress. Keep the area around the shed clear of debris and ensure the double doors operate smoothly, lubricating hinges if necessary. Proper ventilation is key to preventing condensation and mold buildup inside; consider adding additional vents if you notice excessive moisture.
