Product Information

Full details

The Zipbolt Worktop Connectors (164mm) are designed for professional joiners and DIY enthusiasts who need a fast, reliable method to join kitchen worktops 28mm thick or greater. By utilizing a patented internal gear mechanism, these connectors significantly reduce installation time compared to traditional nut-and-bolt systems, allowing for efficient one-handed operation. While they offer superior clamping force and ease of use, they require precise routered slots to function correctly, making them less forgiving if your initial template work is slightly off-center.

FAQs

What is the minimum worktop thickness for these connectors?

These connectors are intended for worktops 28mm thick or greater.

Do I need special tools to install these?

No, you only need a standard cordless drill and a 5mm Hex drive bit.

Can I reuse these connectors?

Yes, the hardened gear design is durable enough for disassembly and re-installation if required.

What does the Zipclip do?

The Zipclip features flexible wings that hold the connector in the routered slot, keeping your hands free for final adjustments.

Are these 164mm connectors compatible with all jigs?

Yes, 164mm is an industry-standard size that works with almost all major worktop routing jigs.

Troubleshooting

Bolt slips during tightening

Ensure the 5mm Hex bit is fully seated in the gear head and that the housing is not obstructed by debris.

Worktops won't pull together tightly

Check that the routered hole is the correct depth and that the bolt is not snagging on the underside of the worktop.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Significantly faster installation than traditional bolts
Allows for easy one-handed tensioning in tight spaces
Uses standard 5mm Hex bit for simple tool compatibility
Secure holding clip prevents the bolt from falling out before tightening
Extremely durable, hardened gear construction

Cons

Requires precise routing to ensure the gear housing sits flush
Not suitable for very thin materials under 28mm
Requires a specific drill bit size for initial pilot holes

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, ensure your router jig is set to the correct depth to allow the 164mm connector to sit flush within the cut-out. The system is compatible with all major worktop routing templates.

Prepare the routered slot in both worktop sections.
Insert the Zipbolt into the slot and snap on the Zipclip to hold it in place.
Align the worktop ends carefully.
Use a 5mm Hex bit attached to your cordless drill to tighten the gear mechanism.

Care for the product is minimal; keep the internal gears free of wood chips or debris during installation to ensure smooth operation of the tightening mechanism.
