Full details
The Chavenage Bat Box is a single chamber quality nesting box designed to provide a safe roost for bats, which have lost many natural roosts. This natural timber bat box is suitable for various bat species, including Pipistrelle, Noctule, Leisler’s, Natterer’s, Daubenton's, and Brown Long-eared bats. It can be fitted into gardens, woodlands, or on house walls. Made from untreated, solid, high-quality, durable certified timber, it offers longevity and excellent insulation. Bats are sensitive to smell and will be deterred by treatments, so untreated timber is crucial. The box features a narrow entrance slot at the base to allow bat access while preventing predation. Dimensions: 42.5 x 17.8 x 15.5 cm. The bat box should be sited high up, between 2.5m and 5m, on a building or mature tree using the pre-drilled back plate hanger. The ideal aspect is to face South West or South East to receive partial sun during the day. Occupation is more likely if the box is on an existing feeding or flight route. Bats are a Schedule 1 protected species, and disturbing a roost or handling a bat is illegal; only licensed workers can inspect the boxes. You can monitor occupation by looking for droppings beneath the box or observing from a distance at dusk for bats exiting to hunt. Specifications: H:42.5 x W:17.8 x D:15.5 cm, Colour: Brown, Guarantee: 1 year, Material: Timber, Model Number: CBB.
