FAQs

How many people can sit on the Howdy bench?

The bench is designed as a comfortable 2-seater.

Is the bench waterproof?

It is weather-resistant, but like all wooden outdoor furniture, it should be maintained with re-staining to ensure continued protection against moisture.

How do I clean the bench?

Regular cleaning is simple: just wipe the wood down with a damp cloth to remove dirt.

Can I leave it outside in winter?

While it is made for the outdoors, covering the bench or storing it in a shed during harsh winter months will significantly extend its lifespan.

Is assembly difficult?

No, the bench is designed for quick and straightforward assembly with standard tools.

Do I need to treat the wood immediately?

The bench comes factory-varnished, so it is ready for use immediately; however, you should monitor the finish and re-stain as needed over time.

Troubleshooting

Bench feels wobbly on uneven ground

Ensure the solid bases of the wagon wheels are cleared of debris or adjust the bench position to a more level section of your patio.

Wood surface appears dull or dry

Apply a high-quality outdoor wood stain or protective varnish to nourish the wood and restore the finish.

Minor water pooling during heavy rain

Check that the slat gaps are free of leaves or debris that may be obstructing the drainage path.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Striking rustic aesthetic
Easy and quick assembly process
Effective drainage via slatted wood construction
Stable and supportive frame design

Cons

Requires periodic re-staining to maintain finish
Wood material necessitates protection from extreme weather
Limited to two-person seating capacity

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Assembly is straightforward; ensure you have a flat surface to work on to prevent scratching the finish during setup. For optimal longevity, place the bench in a spot where it can be partially protected from direct, harsh weather if possible. To keep the wood looking fresh and to protect it from the elements, we recommend re-staining the frame at least once per season or whenever the varnish appears to be wearing thin. Routine maintenance is minimal: simply wipe the wooden slats down with a damp cloth to remove dust, pollen, or debris.
