The Mehr Locking Wheel Nut Removal Kit (RG10600) is an essential toolset for automotive technicians and DIY enthusiasts who frequently encounter vehicles with lost or damaged locking wheel nut keys. No, this kit is specifically designed for McGard-style locking nuts and is compatible with specific brands like BMW, Ford, PSA, Opel/Vauxhall, and Volvo.
When used correctly according to the provided instructions, the kit is designed to extract the nut without damaging the rim; however, improper alignment may cause cosmetic surface marks.
The kit includes a manual impact driver for precise control. Using high-powered pneumatic tools may exceed the structural limits of the adaptors.
The spring provides the necessary tension to maintain contact and alignment between the tool components while under load.
The kit is supplied as a set. For longevity, ensure you follow the cleaning guidelines to prevent thread seizure or wear on the mandrel tips.
Ensure the mandrel is properly seated and use the center punch to confirm alignment before applying impact force.
Check that the 24mm impact socket is firmly connected to the impact driver and that all components are tightly aligned on the bolt axis.
To ensure the longevity of the kit, always clean the mandrels and threads after each use to remove metal shavings or debris. Compatibility is restricted to McGard-style locking nuts; attempting to use this on other locking lug types may lead to tool failure or wheel damage. Store the kit in a dry, cool environment. Before starting, ensure the impact driver is set to the correct rotation and that the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands, as the removal process requires significant torque.
