FAQs
Can this be used indoors?
Yes, but ensure you place a saucer underneath to catch excess water, as the basket does not have a sealed base.
Does it come with a liner?
No, the basket is sold as a standalone planter. You may purchase a coco or moss liner separately if you prefer a traditional look.
What is the total hanging length?
The chain is 33-34cm, which when added to the 16cm height of the basket, provides a total drop of approximately 50cm.
Is the material real rattan?
No, it is crafted from a high-quality, durable rattan-effect plastic that provides the look of natural materials with increased weather resistance.
How much weight can it hold?
It is designed to hold the weight of standard potting soil and mature plants, provided it is hung on a secure, weight-rated bracket.
Troubleshooting
Basket is tilting to one side
Adjust the chain links to ensure the weight is distributed evenly across all attachment points.
Water pooling at the base
Ensure you have adequate drainage holes; if the product lacks them, drill a few small holes in the bottom to prevent root rot.
Fading color due to sun exposure
Use a UV-protectant spray specifically designed for plastics to maintain the brown finish over several seasons.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lightweight design for easy hanging
- Weather-resistant rattan-effect plastic
- Ready to use with included chain
- Ample space for multiple plant varieties
Cons
- Plastic material may feel less premium than natural wicker
- Subject to swaying in high-wind conditions
- Does not include drainage tray for indoor use
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To set up your basket, attach the included 33-34cm chain to the hooks on the rim of the basket. Ensure your mounting bracket is rated for the combined weight of the basket, soil, and plants, as wet soil adds significant mass. For care, simply wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth if dust or soil accumulates. During the winter months, it is recommended to bring the basket inside or store it in a shed to prolong its lifespan and prevent potential brittleness caused by extreme frost.
