They are suitable for grooving, rebating, morticing, drilling, and shallow lateral routing cuts such as recessing hinges. Corners may require a final trimming square with a hand chisel or a corner chisel. These cutters are ideal for abrasive materials like chipboard, MDF, plywood, hardwoods, and hard plastics. The specific model 3/83MX1/2TC has a shorter shank designed for Makita 3600B and 3612BR, Ryobi, and Hitachi Routers, and is ideal for cutting kitchen worktops.
