Product Information

Full details

The Savage Gear Pro Folding Landing Net is an ideal companion for anglers who prioritize fish safety and portability without compromising on structural strength. This net is perfect for freshwater and light saltwater applications, providing a secure way to land fish while ensuring minimal damage to scales and fins. While its fixed handle design offers excellent rigidity during use, it is important to note that it does not provide the adjustable reach found in telescopic models, making it best suited for bank or boat fishing where close-range access is consistent.

FAQs

Is the handle on this net telescopic?

No, this specific model features a fixed, non-telescopic handle to maximize structural strength.

Is the net safe for catch-and-release fishing?

Yes, the rubberized mesh is specifically designed to be fish-friendly, minimizing damage to the protective slime layer of the fish.

Does the net float?

While the frame is lightweight, it is not designed to float on its own; avoid dropping it in deep water.

Can I use this for saltwater fishing?

Yes, the materials are durable, but be sure to rinse the net thoroughly with fresh water after each use to prevent corrosion.

How do I store the net safely?

Fold the head, rinse and dry the mesh, and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting

The folding hinge feels stiff or sticks when opening

Clear any debris or dried mud from the hinge and apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant.

Net mesh feels sticky or stiff after storage

Wash the mesh with warm, soapy water to remove buildup and rinse thoroughly to restore suppleness.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Rubberized mesh prevents hook snagging and protects fish health
Folding mechanism significantly reduces the footprint for transport
High strength-to-weight ratio for easy handling
Robust construction suitable for long-term field use

Cons

Fixed handle lacks the extension capabilities of telescopic models
Larger profile may still require specific storage orientation
Not intended for heavy-duty deep sea or offshore big game fishing

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setting up the net is straightforward: simply unfold the net head until the locking mechanism clicks securely into place. Ensure the locking hinge is free of debris before deployment.

Compatibility: This net is compatible with most standard fishing setups, particularly for bass, pike, zander, and large trout.

Care Instructions:

Rinse with fresh water after every outing, especially if used in brackish or saltwater environments.
Allow the net to air dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area before folding for storage.
Avoid storing the net in direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent UV degradation of the rubber mesh.
Check the hinge and locking joints periodically to ensure they remain clean and lubricated.
