FAQs

How do I set the correct temperature for my fridge and freezer?

The thermostat control is typically located inside the fridge compartment. For optimal food safety, the fridge should be set between 0°C and 4°C, and the freezer at -18°C or colder. Adjust the dial or settings according to the user manual, often on a scale of 1 to 5 or 1 to 7, with higher numbers indicating colder settings.

How often should I defrost the freezer?

The frequency of defrosting depends on ice buildup. For manual defrost freezers, it's recommended when ice accumulation reaches about 0.5 to 1 cm (0.2-0.4 inches) to maintain efficiency and storage space. Always refer to your user manual for specific defrosting instructions.

Can I reverse the door hinges?

Info needed: Refer to the specific product's user manual. Some models allow for reversible door hinges to suit different kitchen layouts, but this feature is not universal and requires specific tools and instructions.

What is the 'E' energy rating and what does it mean for me?

The 'E' energy rating indicates the appliance's energy efficiency based on a new EU energy labeling system. While 'E' is not the highest rating (A being the most efficient), the product description notes this appliance is 'highly economical to run thanks to the E energy rating,' meaning it is designed to be cost-effective in operation compared to older or less efficient models.

How do I clean the interior and exterior?

For the interior, unplug the appliance and use a solution of mild detergent and warm water with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners. For the exterior, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly. Do not spray water directly onto the appliance. Regularly clean door seals to ensure proper closure.

What is the purpose of the salad crisper?

The salad crisper drawer is designed to maintain higher humidity levels than the rest of the fridge compartment. This environment helps to keep fruits and vegetables fresh, crisp, and hydrated for longer, extending their shelf life and preserving their nutrients.

Troubleshooting

Appliance is not cooling or freezing effectively.

Check if the power cord is securely plugged in and the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. Ensure the temperature settings are correctly adjusted. Verify that the door seals are clean and closing properly. Avoid overloading the compartments, which can restrict airflow. Make sure there's adequate space around the unit for ventilation.

Unusual noises coming from the appliance.

Check if the appliance is level; uneven placement can cause vibrations. Ensure there's nothing touching the back or sides of the unit. Normal operating noises include humming from the compressor and occasional creaks as temperatures change. If the noise is loud or persistent, consult the user manual.

Excessive ice buildup in the freezer compartment.

This often indicates warm air entering the freezer. Check if the freezer door is fully closing and that the door seal is intact and clean. Avoid leaving the door open for extended periods. Ensure warm food is cooled before placing it in the freezer.

Water pooling inside the fridge or on the floor.

This could be due to a blocked defrost drain hole inside the fridge, which can cause water to overflow. Clear the drain hole gently with a thin object like a pipe cleaner. Also, check that the appliance is level and that there are no leaks from the water tray at the back of the unit (if applicable).

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup

Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Keep the appliance upright as much as possible during transport to its final location.
Placement: Choose a level, solid surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources (like ovens or radiators), and excessive moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation space around the sides and rear of the unit as per the user manual.
Leveling: Use the adjustable feet at the bottom to ensure the appliance is perfectly level. This helps with door alignment and efficient operation.
Initial Power-Up: After placing, allow the fridge freezer to stand for at least 4 hours before plugging it in. This allows the refrigerant to settle. Once plugged in, let it run empty for a few hours to reach optimal temperature before loading with food.

Power Supply: Compatible with standard household electrical outlets (Info needed: specific voltage/frequency).

Care

Cleaning: Regularly clean the interior and exterior with a soft cloth dampened with mild detergent and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the interior, remove shelves and drawers for thorough cleaning. Ensure the door seals are clean and free from debris for efficient sealing.
Defrosting: The freezer section may require periodic manual defrosting depending on usage and ice build-up. Refer to the user manual for specific defrosting instructions.
Dusting Coils: Periodically dust the condenser coils at the back of the unit (if accessible) to maintain energy efficiency. Ensure the appliance is unplugged before performing this task.
Door Seals: Inspect door seals regularly for any signs of wear or damage. Clean seals ensure proper temperature retention.
Temperature Setting: Adjust the internal thermostat as needed to maintain optimal freshness and freezing, considering the ambient room temperature and amount of food stored.
