Product Information
Full details
The Daiwa Tournament ST 6000 is an elite big pit reel designed for serious carp anglers and distance casters who demand uncompromising reliability and rugged build quality. Its primary benefit lies in its precision worm gear oscillation and high-capacity spool, which facilitate smooth, long-range casting; however, its specialized gear ratio and heavier weight may feel less agile for those transitioning from compact, modern feeder reels.

How many ball bearings are included?
The model features seven ball bearings to ensure smooth operation.
What does the line guard do?
It is a spring-loaded component that prevents line from wrapping around the spool shaft or tangling during retrieval.
Can I replace the handle?
Yes, the handle is removable for transport and can be replaced, though it is recommended to use genuine Daiwa compatible parts.
Does it come with a spare spool?
Please check your specific retail package contents, as this varies by region and distributor.
Troubleshooting
Handle feeling stiff during retrieve
Check for debris under the spool skirt or apply a small drop of reel lubricant to the handle hinge point.
Line twisting during casting
Verify that the TwistBuster roller is spinning smoothly and ensure you are not overfilling the spool beyond the recommended line capacity.
Drag feels inconsistent or jerky
The drag washers may require cleaning or light greasing; check for accumulated dirt inside the drag cap.
Pros and Cons
Pros

Cons
- Slower retrieval speed due to 3.1:1 gear ratio
- Heavier physical weight compared to modern composite reels
- Large footprint may be bulky for shorter rods
Setup, Compatibility & Care
For optimal performance, pair this reel with a dedicated carp rod featuring a 50mm butt ring to take full advantage of the high-capacity spool. To maintain the reel, ensure the main gear housing remains clear of grit and debris after sessions in sandy or muddy conditions. Periodically check the TwistBuster line roller to ensure it rotates freely, as a seized roller can negate the benefits of the anti-twist technology. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution; avoid spraying water directly into the internal gear housing. Lubricate the bail arm pivot point lightly once per season using a high-quality, lightweight fishing reel oil.
