FAQs

What is the maximum data transfer speed of this cable?

The cable supports data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps.

What is the maximum power delivery rating?

It supports USB Power Delivery (PD) up to 240W, allowing for very fast charging of compatible devices.

Can this cable transmit video signals?

Yes, the cable supports 8K resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate, provided both your source device and display support this capability via USB-C.

What is the cable length?

The cable length is 35cm (approximately 13.8 inches).

What are the connector types on each end?

One end has a straight USB-C male connector, and the other end has an angled USB-C male connector.

Is this cable compatible with Thunderbolt devices?

While it supports high data speeds, this cable is based on USB standards. For full Thunderbolt functionality, a certified Thunderbolt cable is recommended. However, it should work for USB data, power, and display modes with Thunderbolt devices.

What is the warranty period for this cable?

The cable comes with a 2-year warranty.

Troubleshooting

Data transfer is slow or not working

Ensure both connected devices support USB 40Gbps transfer speeds. Confirm the USB ports on your devices are functioning correctly. Try using a different USB-C port or device. Check if the cable is fully inserted into both ports.

Device is not charging or charging slowly

Verify that your power adapter and the connected device both support USB Power Delivery (PD) up to 240W. Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the power source and the device. Try a different PD-certified charger.

External display is not recognized or shows a poor signal

Confirm that your devices support 8K/60Hz video output via USB-C (DisplayPort Alternate Mode). Ensure the cable is fully seated in the ports. Try connecting directly to the display output of your source device if using a hub.

Cable feels stiff or difficult to bend

While designed for flexibility, new cables may need a short period of gentle use to 'break in'. Avoid forcing the cable into tight bends, as this can damage the internal wiring.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Supports high-speed 40Gbps data transfer for quick file management.
  • Enables fast charging with up to 240W Power Delivery.
  • Capable of 8K/60Hz video output for high-resolution displays.
  • Durable and flexible silicone cable jacket with robust connectors.
  • Angled connector design improves usability in constrained spaces.

Cons

  • The 0.35m cable length may be restrictive for some setups.
  • While supporting high speeds, the underlying USB version is USB 2.0 for data, which might be a misunderstanding in product description, usually USB 2.0 has lower data transfer rates than 40Gbps. Assuming 40Gbps is accurate, it implies a higher USB standard is active. Clarification might be needed based on actual device compatibility.
  • Only one cable included per pack.
  • The grey and black color scheme might not match all user aesthetics.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The SmallRig 5075 cable is a Plug and Play device. Simply connect the straight USB-C end to your source device (e.g., laptop, computer) and the angled USB-C end to your destination device (e.g., external SSD, monitor, charger). Ensure both devices support USB-C connectivity and the desired transfer speeds or power delivery.

Compatibility: This cable is compatible with any device featuring a USB-C port that supports USB 2.0 data transfer, USB Power Delivery (up to 240W), and DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video output. It is designed to work with a wide range of USB-C enabled devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, and external peripherals.

Care: To maintain the cable's performance and longevity:

  1. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  2. Do not bend the cable sharply or frequently at the connector points.
  3. Keep the connectors clean by gently wiping them with a dry, soft cloth.
  4. Store the cable loosely coiled using the included cable tie when not in use.
  5. Avoid exposing the cable to liquids or moisture.
