Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure success, plant your bulbs in autumn when the soil begins to cool. Aim for a planting depth of approximately three times the height of the bulb.
- Soil Quality: Ensure the soil is well-drained. If your garden has heavy clay, add grit to the planting hole to improve drainage.
- Sun Exposure: While some varieties tolerate light shade, most Alliums thrive and produce the strongest stems in full sun.
- Post-Bloom Care: Once the flowers have faded, leave the foliage to die back naturally. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season. Avoid cutting the leaves until they have turned yellow or brown.
