What surfaces can I use this ink with?

The ink works well with linoleum, wood, soft block surfaces, polyfoam, and flexible printing plates.

What should I do if the ink dries on my brayer?

Clean your brayer immediately after use with soap and water to prevent the ink from drying. If the ink has already dried, try soaking the brayer in warm, soapy water to soften the ink before cleaning.

Troubleshooting

Ink appears too thin or transparent.

Ensure you are applying a sufficient amount of ink with the brayer, and that the ink is evenly distributed on the block.

Print is not transferring well.

Increase the pressure when printing. Ensure the printing surface and paper are in good contact.

Ink is smudging.

Allow more time for the print to dry, or avoid excessive handling of the print before it is dry.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Preparation: Ensure your printing surface (linoleum, wood, etc.) is clean and ready. Gather your tools: brayer, ink, printing plate, paper, and a clean surface to roll out the ink.
Inking: Place a small amount of ink on a clean, non-absorbent surface. Use the brayer to roll the ink into a thin, even layer. This ensures consistent coverage on your printing block.
Printing: Apply the inked block to your paper, using a press or hand pressure. Ensure even pressure across the block.
Cleaning: Clean up immediately after use with soap and water. This prevents the ink from drying and hardening on your tools and surfaces.

Compatibility

Surfaces: Compatible with various surfaces including linoleum, wood, soft block surfaces, polyfoam, and flexible printing plates.
Tools: Works well with traditional block printing tools like brayers and presses.

Care

Store ink in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Clean tools immediately after use to prevent ink from drying.
Avoid mixing Speedball Water-Soluble Block Printing Ink with other types of inks to maintain its water-solubility properties.
