Setup, Compatibility & Care
To begin, sow your seeds between February and April by pressing them onto the surface of moist, lightly firmed seed compost, as they require light to germinate effectively. Maintain an environment between 18-20°C until sprouts appear. Once seedlings reach a manageable size, move them into 7.5cm pots. It is vital to acclimatize the plants gradually to outdoor conditions before transplanting them to their final location after the last frost has passed. Space your plants 23cm apart to ensure proper airflow and prevent fungal issues in the foliage. Ensure the soil remains well-drained, as Dianthus do not tolerate waterlogged conditions.
