It gives strong, permanent colour to natural fabrics in just two 40 degrees C cycles in the washing machine. Wash and Dye is the simple solution to restore the colour of faded fabrics. Cotton, linen and viscose will dye to the full shade. Polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose mixtures will dye to lighter shades. Wool, silk, polyester, nylon, acrylic and fabric with special finishes e.g. dry clean only cannot be dyed. Up to 500g of fabric (e.g. approximately 1 large pair of jeans) will dye to the full shade. A maximum of 1 kg can be dyed to lighter shades. Colour mixing rules apply, e.g. brown dye on orange fabric will give terracotta. Patterned fabric will often still show through. Dye fabrics as you wash with this Dylon product to either restore or change colour! It can be used in washing machines at 40 degrees for the best results.

This guide is for anyone looking to refresh or completely change the color of their fabric using Dylon Wash and Dye. The key benefit is the ability to easily restore or transform the color of your clothes in your washing machine. However, it's important to note that the dye works best on natural fabrics and certain synthetic blends, and not all fabrics are suitable. This product offers a convenient method for dyeing fabrics at home, providing intense and permanent color with minimal effort.

FAQs
What fabrics can I dye with Dylon Wash and Dye?
Dylon Wash and Dye works best on cotton, linen, and viscose. It can also be used on polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose mixtures, but the color will be lighter.
What fabrics should I avoid dyeing?
Do not use Dylon Wash and Dye on wool, silk, polyester, nylon, acrylic, or fabrics with special finishes, such as dry clean only fabrics.
How much fabric can I dye at once?
You can dye up to 500g of fabric for the full shade and a maximum of 1 kg for lighter shades.
What temperature should I wash the fabric at?
Use a 40°C washing machine cycle for best results.
How do I clean my washing machine after dyeing?
Run an empty wash cycle at 40°C with detergent to clean the machine and remove any dye residue.
Will the color fade after washing?
Dylon Wash and Dye provides permanent color. However, it's recommended to wash dyed items separately for the first few washes.
Can I mix colors?
Yes, but be aware of the color mixing rules. For example, brown dye on orange fabric will give a terracotta shade. Always test on a small piece of fabric first.
Will patterns on my fabric disappear?
Patterned fabrics will often still show through after dyeing.
Troubleshooting
Color appears uneven or patchy.
Ensure the fabric is thoroughly wet before starting the cycle. Overloading the machine can also cause uneven dyeing. Try another wash cycle.
Color is not as intense as expected.
Check the fabric composition; some synthetic blends may not take the dye as intensely. Ensure you've used the correct amount of dye for the fabric weight.
Dye has stained the washing machine.
Run an empty wash cycle with detergent to clean the machine after dyeing.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation: Ensure your washing machine is clean. Remove any detergent residue from the dispenser.
Fabric Preparation: Weigh your fabric to ensure you are within the recommended weight limits. Pre-wash the fabric to remove any dirt or finishes, but do not use fabric softener.
Dye Application: Place the fabric and the Dylon Wash and Dye pack directly into the washing machine drum.
Cycle Selection: Set your washing machine to a 40°C cycle. Use a standard cycle without pre-wash.
Post-Dyeing: Once the cycle is complete, run an empty wash cycle at 40°C to clean the machine.
Care: Wash dyed items separately for the first few washes to avoid color transfer. Follow the care instructions on the fabric label.
