FAQs

Is this socket safe for use with power tools?

Yes, it is designed specifically as an 'Impact Duty' tool to withstand the force of high-torque impact wrenches.

Can I use this on a manual breaker bar?

Yes, the high-strength alloy steel is perfectly suitable for manual use as well.

Does this socket have a protective coating to prevent scratching rims?

No, this model does not feature a non-marring protective sleeve, so exercise caution when working with delicate alloy wheels.

What does the blue color represent?

The blue color is part of Milwaukee's identification system to quickly distinguish the 17mm size from other sockets in your collection.

Is this compatible with 3/8-inch drive tools?

No, this is a 1/2-inch drive socket and will require an adapter if used with a 3/8-inch tool, though using an adapter may limit your torque output.

Troubleshooting

Socket does not fit on the impact wrench anvil.

Ensure the 1/2-inch drive of the socket is free of debris and that the detent ball on your impact wrench is not stuck.

Socket is slipping on the lug nut.

Verify that the lug nut is exactly 17mm and that the socket is seated fully against the nut before activating the impact tool.

Surface finish is showing signs of rust.

Wipe with a light coating of machine oil and store in a moisture-free toolbox.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

This socket is fully compatible with any standard 1/2-inch drive impact wrench. No special setup is required; simply snap the socket onto the anvil of your impact tool. To ensure longevity, keep the socket clean from excessive debris and oil. While the alloy steel is treated for corrosion, it is best practice to wipe the tool down with a clean, dry cloth after exposure to harsh chemicals or moisture. Store in a dry environment to maintain the integrity of the finish.
