FAQs

Can I use the KG98 while it is charging?

Yes, you can connect the keyboard via the provided USB-C cable to use it in wired mode while simultaneously charging the internal battery.

Does the keyboard support custom keycaps?

Yes, the KG98 uses a standard mechanical switch stem layout that is compatible with most aftermarket MX-style keycap sets.

How do I switch between wireless devices?

The keyboard supports multi-device pairing; use the dedicated function key shortcuts to toggle between the saved Bluetooth channels and the 2.4GHz mode.

Is the software required to use the backlight?

Basic lighting effects can typically be toggled directly on the keyboard using function key combinations, though specific software may be required for deep customization.

What type of switches are compatible?

The board supports most standard 3-pin or 5-pin mechanical switches designed for hot-swap PCBs.

Troubleshooting

Keyboard not recognized by computer

Check that the USB cable is fully seated or that the wireless dongle is plugged into a USB port directly on the PC motherboard rather than a hub.

Wireless connection drops or lags

Ensure the battery is charged and that the 2.4GHz receiver is free from physical obstructions that could cause signal interference.

A key is not registering input

If the keyboard is hot-swappable, remove the keycap and check if the switch is properly seated or if the pin has been bent during installation.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Retains full numeric keypad in a compact form factor
Hot-swappable switches allow for easy maintenance and customization
Excellent connectivity versatility across wired and wireless modes
High build quality using durable aluminum and polycarbonate materials
High-end switches with 80 million character lifecycle

Cons

Battery capacity of 1000 mAh may require frequent recharging
Multicolor design may not fit all minimalist workspace aesthetics
Limited information on specific switch compatibility standards

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To connect via 2.4GHz, simply plug the receiver into an available USB port and set the keyboard toggle to 2.4G. For Bluetooth, hold the pairing key combination to enter discovery mode on your target device. The keyboard is fully compatible with Windows and supports standard QWERTY layouts out of the box. For care, use a keycap puller to remove caps periodically for cleaning; if swapping switches, ensure the pins of the new switch are perfectly straight before inserting them into the hotswap sockets to avoid damaging the PCB.
