Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Berghaus Vaskye Puffer Jacket requires no special setup. Simply unpack it, allow it to loft, and it's ready to wear.
Compatibility
- Layering: This jacket functions effectively as an outer layer in dry, cold conditions or as a warm mid-layer under a waterproof and windproof shell for wet or extremely harsh environments.
- Accessories: Compatible with standard winter accessories like hats, gloves, and scarves. Its design allows for comfortable wear over base layers and lighter mid-layers.
Care
Proper care helps maintain the jacket's performance and longevity.
- Washing: Follow the specific washing instructions on the jacket's internal care label, typically machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners or bleach.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting with dryer balls (like tennis balls) to help restore the loft of the insulation. Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storage to prevent mildew and maintain insulation performance.
- Storage: Store the jacket uncompressed in a dry, well-ventilated area when not in use. Avoid prolonged compression, as this can degrade the insulation over time.
- Spot Cleaning: For small marks, gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Waterproofing Treatment: While the Pertex Quantum offers wind resistance, if water repellency is desired, consider applying a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment suitable for synthetic fabrics, following the product's instructions.
