Setup, Compatibility & Care
When your rose arrives in its 4-litre pot, water it thoroughly before planting. Choose a spot with well-draining, fertile soil and dig a hole twice the width of the root ball. Place the plant so the graft union is level with the soil surface, backfill with a mixture of compost and native soil, and firm down gently.
Care Instructions:
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially in the first year after planting.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced rose fertilizer in early spring and again after the first flush of flowers.
- Pruning: Prune back in late winter to maintain shape and remove any dead or crossing branches.
- Winter Dormancy: Expect leaf drop as temperatures fall; this is a normal part of the plant's life cycle. It will return with vigorous growth in spring.
