Setup, Compatibility & Care
To set up your Marshalls Garden Spearmint, plant it in a container with good drainage or in a designated garden spot where its spread can be managed. Ensure the soil is consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water at the base of the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry, avoiding overhead watering which can encourage fungal issues.
Compatibility: This spearmint thrives in full sun to partial shade. It is compatible with most common potting mixes and garden soils. It pairs well visually and culinarily with other herbs like basil, rosemary, and thyme.
Care: Feed sparingly once a month during the growing season with a balanced slow-release fertilizer or organic compost. Prune regularly to encourage bushier growth and a continuous supply of leaves. As a hardy perennial, it will die back in autumn and regrow in spring. Trim back dead foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth appears.
