AdBlue is a solution required to ensure diesel engines with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems meet the latest Euro 6 exhaust emission regulations. It is a specially-formulated liquid (made of urea and deionized water), injected into the exhaust stream to help neutralise harmful gases and diesel emissions, including nitrogen oxides (NOx). AdBlue is now a requirement in many countries—including the United Kingdom—for the newer diesel engines. If a SCR-equipped vehicle runs out of AdBlue, it will fail to start.
