Product Information

Full details

The Fox Defend MTB Gloves are designed for mountain bikers seeking a balance between high-end durability and precise tactile control. Ideal for aggressive trail riding and long days in the saddle, these gloves utilize a reinforced Clarino palm and 4-way stretch material to protect your hands while maintaining maximum dexterity. While they offer excellent protection and performance, they are optimized for breathability rather than extreme winter thermal insulation, making them best suited for three-season riding.

FAQs

Are these gloves waterproof?

No, they are designed for breathability and moisture-wicking, not water resistance.

Do these gloves have D3O or knuckle padding?

The Defend series prioritizes dexterity and trail feel, so they do not feature heavy knuckle armor.

How do I determine my size?

Measure the circumference of your dominant hand just below the knuckles to ensure the best fit according to the Fox sizing chart.

Can I machine wash these?

Hand washing is highly recommended to extend the lifespan of the material and maintain the grip of the palm.

Do they provide sun protection?

The material covers the back of the hand, providing a basic layer of protection against trail brush and sun exposure.

Troubleshooting

Touchscreen sensitivity is poor

Ensure the conductive patch on the fingertip is clean. Dirt or mud can interfere with the touch interface; wipe the fingertip with a damp cloth.

Gloves feel loose after washing

Avoid machine drying. High heat can break down the elasticity of the 4-way stretch fabric. Always reshape and air dry.

Pros and Cons

Pros

High level of durability in high-wear areas
Excellent tactile sensitivity for brake control
Breathable material prevents overheating
Secure hook and loop wrist closure
Touchscreen friendly index and thumb

Cons

Not suitable for extreme cold weather conditions
Limited padding compared to heavy downhill-specific gloves
Requires careful washing to maintain grip material

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your Fox Defend gloves last through many seasons, proper maintenance is essential. Ensure the hook and loop closure is fastened securely during use for a tight fit, but be careful not to overtighten, as this can restrict blood flow. For cleaning, hand wash with mild soap and cold water to preserve the Clarino palm material. Avoid using bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh detergents. Always air dry the gloves away from direct heat sources, such as heaters or radiators, as high heat can damage the synthetic fibers and stretch materials.
