The Tamiya 74002 Long Nose Pliers with Cutter is designed for model hobbyists and enthusiasts who require precision for delicate assembly and intricate electrical work. These pliers offer the primary benefit of a slim, long-reach design that allows users to access tight spaces within model kits, though they are specialized tools and may not be suitable for heavy-duty industrial tasks involving thick gauge wires or hard metals.

No, they are precision hobby tools designed for light-gauge wiring and model components, not heavy industrial electrical work.
They are suitable for thin plastic or soft metal parts, but you should avoid cutting hardened steel or thick metal rods to prevent damaging the blades.
The Tamiya 74002 features a standard pivot design and does not typically include a self-opening return spring.
Use a mild solvent suitable for the paint type on a soft cloth, being careful to avoid excessive contact with the handle grips.
The tool is made of metal, but it is not specifically treated to be magnetic. Small parts may not stick to the tips.
Clean the hinge area with a soft brush to remove debris and apply a tiny drop of light machine oil to the pivot point.
Check the blade alignment for any misalignment or damage. Ensure you are only cutting materials within the tool's intended capacity, such as thin wire or plastic.
No formal setup is required; the tool is ready for use out of the box. Compatibility is broad across the plastic modeling hobby spectrum, particularly for aircraft, automotive, and robotic kits. To ensure the longevity of your Tamiya 74002, keep the hinge mechanism clean of plastic dust or paint residue. You may apply a single drop of light machine oil to the pivot point if the action becomes stiff over time. Always store the tool in a dry environment and avoid using the cutter on materials harder than soft copper or lead, as this can dull the cutting edge prematurely.
