Product Information

Full details

The Lindy 15m USB 3.0 Active Extension Slim is for users needing to connect USB Type-A devices to PCs, laptops, or tablets at extended distances up to 15 meters. Its key benefit is maintaining high-speed 5Gbps data transfer over a long range, with a caveat that chaining more than three 15m cables requires an external power supply for stability. This active extension cable features built-in electronics to ensure signal integrity, supports plug-and-play installation, and offers a slim design for tight spaces.

FAQs

What is the maximum data transfer rate supported by this cable?

This cable supports USB 3.0 data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps.

Can I connect multiple extension cables together?

Yes, up to five Lindy USB 3.0 Active Extension Slim cables can be chained together. However, when chaining the 15m version (model 43404), a maximum of three 15m cables can be connected in series, and for optimal stability, especially with high-power devices or multiple chained cables, an external DC power adapter may be required.

Does this cable require a power adapter?

The cable is primarily powered via the USB bus. However, it includes a DC socket for an optional power adapter, which is recommended for devices with high power demands or when connecting multiple cables in series to ensure stable power delivery.

Is this cable compatible with USB 2.0 devices?

Yes, it is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices, but the data transfer speed will be limited to the older standard's capabilities.

What is the warranty period for this product?

The Lindy USB 3.0 Active Extension Slim cable comes with a 2-year warranty.

What are the dimensions of the connectors?

Connector 1 (Male USB-A) dimensions are approximately 41.1 x 16.5 x 9.5 mm. Connector 2 (Female USB-A) dimensions are approximately 67.5 x 22 x 13.5 mm.

What is the cable diameter?

The cable diameter is 6.5 mm.

Troubleshooting

Device not recognized or connection drops intermittently.

Ensure the cable is securely plugged into both the host and the peripheral. If multiple cables are chained, especially the 15m version, try connecting an external power adapter to the DC socket on the furthest cable. Check if the connected device has high power requirements. Verify that the host computer's USB ports are functioning correctly.

Slow data transfer speeds.

Confirm that both the host computer and the connected USB device support USB 3.0 speeds (5Gbps). Ensure the cable is connected to a USB 3.0 port on the host. Test the device and cable on a different USB 3.0 port or computer to rule out issues with the original port. Check for interference from other electronic devices.

Cable does not extend connection as expected.

Verify that you are using a USB 3.0 compatible device and port for maximum speed. Ensure that any chained cables are also Lindy USB 3.0 Active Extension Slim models, as mixing different types or passive cables may not yield the desired results. Check the total length constraint; the 15m version has specific chaining limitations.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Enables high-speed USB 3.0 connections over a significant distance (15m).
Active electronics ensure reliable signal quality and data transfer rates.
Can be chained with other Lindy USB 3.0 Active Extensions for even greater reach.
Slim connector design is beneficial for installations with limited space.
Supports plug-and-play for hassle-free setup.
Includes an option for external power for demanding applications.

Cons

Chaining more than three 15m cables (or any combination involving the 15m version beyond two total) may require an external power supply for optimal performance.
While it supports up to 5Gbps, actual speeds may vary based on connected devices and overall system load.
The cable's primary interface is USB Type-A, limiting direct connection to Type-C only ports without an adapter.
As an active extension, it is slightly bulkier than passive cables, though its design is slim for an active unit.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

This extension cable features a plug-and-play design. Simply connect the USB Type-A male end to your host device (PC, laptop, tablet) and the USB Type-A female end to your USB peripheral. No software or driver installation is required.

Compatibility:

The Lindy USB 3.0 Active Extension Slim is compatible with all USB Type-A equipped computers. It supports USB 3.0, USB 3.1 Gen 1, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 specifications, all operating at up to 5Gbps. It is also backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices, though speeds will be limited to those standards.

Care:

Cleaning: To clean the cable and connectors, use a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using liquids, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Ensure connectors are free from dust and debris before plugging in.
Cable Management: Avoid excessive bending, twisting, or kinking of the cable, as this can damage the internal wiring. Use cable ties or clips to keep the cable tidy and prevent strain on the connectors.
Storage: When not in use, store the cable in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the connectors are protected from damage.
