Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Plant Lilaeopsis brasilensis in pots filled with aquatic soil or directly into the substrate in shallow water (up to 6 inches deep) or consistently moist garden soil. Ensure roots are covered. For aquariums, plant plugs directly into the substrate.
Compatibility: It is compatible with most pond fish and invertebrates. Avoid planting in areas that dry out completely. It pairs well with other marginal and submerged aquatic plants.
Care:
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist or submerged in shallow water.
- Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade.
- Trimming: Trim back leggy growth or to maintain an even carpet appearance. This can be done with sharp scissors or shears. Pruning encourages denser growth.
- Fertilizing: Generally not required in nutrient-rich pond environments. If growth is poor, a slow-release aquatic fertilizer can be used sparingly.
