Product Information

Full details

The Korda Arma Kord Sinking Braided Fishing Shock Leader is designed for serious carp anglers who require maximum durability in challenging, snag-heavy environments. Its primary benefit is superior abrasion resistance combined with a sinking profile that keeps your terminal tackle pinned to the lake bed for better concealment; however, users should be aware that the 30lb breaking strain requires careful knot selection to maintain line strength under heavy tension.

FAQs

What is the breaking strain of this leader?

The Korda Arma Kord Sinking Braided Shock Leader is rated at 30lb.

How much line is on the spool?

Each spool contains 50 meters of leader material.

Is this leader suitable for fishing in weed?

Yes, its abrasion-resistant properties make it ideal for navigating through dense weed beds.

Does this leader come in different colors?

This specific variant comes in a dark brown color, designed for effective camouflage on most lake beds.

Can I use this for long-range casting?

Yes, its strength makes it an excellent shock leader for high-impact casting, provided your knots are tied correctly to pass through your rod guides.

Is it completely invisible underwater?

While it is designed to sink and blend in, no line is 100% invisible; the dark brown color is chosen to match natural shadows and substrates.

Troubleshooting

Knot slipping under tension

Ensure you are using a knot suitable for braided lines and apply sufficient lubrication (saliva) before tightening to prevent friction burn.

Line lifting off the lake bed

Ensure your leader is fully soaked before casting and consider using small sinking putty if you require extra weight in deep water.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent resistance to snags and sharp underwater debris
Stays pinned to the bottom for improved rig concealment
High-performance braid material reduces the risk of line breakages
Durable enough for long-term use in demanding conditions

Cons

Requires proper knot choice to avoid slippage
Higher diameter compared to fluorocarbon leaders
Not suitable for extremely light delicate presentations

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To maximize the performance of this leader, ensure you use a dedicated braid-to-mono knot, such as the FG knot or a modified Albright knot, to ensure the connection is secure and streamline enough to pass through rod guides.

Compatibility: Best paired with 12lb to 15lb mainline for a balanced setup.
Care: Regularly inspect the last few feet of the leader after landing a fish, especially if you have been fishing near sharp rocks. If you notice any fraying, trim the damaged section and re-tie your rig to maintain peak performance.
Storage: Keep the spool out of direct, prolonged sunlight to ensure the integrity of the braid fibers over time.
