Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and old finishes before application. Sand the wood to a fine grit (240 or higher) for optimal adhesion.
Application:
This polish is best applied using a French polishing mop or a traditional rubber. Work in thin, even coats, allowing each coat to dry partially before applying the next. Traditional French polishing involves building up multiple thin layers to achieve a durable and glossy finish.
Compatibility:
Suitable for most bare wood surfaces. It is ideal for light-colored woods and marquetry. Test on an inconspicuous area first if unsure.
Care:
To maintain the finish, dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Minor scratches can often be repaired by re-applying a thin coat of French polish.
