Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup and Use
Westland Potting Grit is ready to use directly from the bag. For mixing with compost, combine the grit with your chosen potting medium in the desired ratio (typically 1 part grit to 2-3 parts compost, adjusting for plant needs). For decorative use, simply spread a layer onto the soil surface. For anchoring plants, place the grit around the base of the plant in the pot or pond.
Compatibility
This grit is compatible with all standard potting composts and soil types. It is lime-free, making it suitable for most plants, including those that prefer slightly acidic conditions like rhododendrons and azaleas when used in appropriate mixes. It is safe for use in aquariums and ponds with aquatic life.
Care
As a mineral aggregate, Potting Grit requires no specific care. Ensure the bag is stored in a dry place to prevent moisture absorption and potential clumping. If grit becomes compacted or dirty over time, it can be gently rinsed and reused, although this is rarely necessary.
