Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
- Unpack Safely: Carefully remove all packaging materials, including any internal tape or foam. Recycle packaging where possible.
- Positioning: Place the fridge on a stable, level surface. Ensure there is adequate space (at least 5-10cm) around the back and sides for proper ventilation. Avoid placing it near direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Door Reversal (Optional): If your space requires the door to open from the other side, consult your user manual for detailed instructions on reversing the door hinges. This process usually involves tools and careful handling.
- Stabilize: Adjust the leveling feet (if present) to ensure the appliance is stable and level.
- Wait Before Plugging In: After positioning, wait at least 4 hours before plugging the appliance into a power outlet. This allows the refrigerant to settle, preventing potential damage to the cooling system.
- First Use: Plug in the fridge, set the thermostat to a medium setting, and allow it to cool down for several hours (e.g., 4-6 hours) before loading it with food items.
Compatibility
This Fridgemaster fridge is specifically designed as an under-counter unit, making it compatible with standard kitchen counter heights. Its narrow width (475mm) and shallow depth (450mm) allow for flexible placement in various small spaces.
Care & Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the interior regularly with a mild detergent and warm water. Wipe down shelves, door racks, and especially the door seal to ensure it remains hygienic and maintains an airtight seal.
- Defrosting the Ice Box: As it's a 3-star ice box, manual defrosting will be required periodically. Defrost when ice build-up on the walls reaches approximately ¼ to ½ inch (about 0.6-1.2 cm) thick. To defrost, remove all contents, unplug the appliance, and leave the door open. Use a towel to absorb melting ice. Never use sharp objects to chip away ice.
- Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation grilles at the back of the appliance remain unobstructed. Blocked vents can reduce cooling efficiency and increase energy consumption.
- Door Seals: Regularly check the door seals for cracks or damage. A damaged seal can lead to cold air loss and higher energy usage.
